HR tech pitch deck
HR software is bought by one team, used by every employee and checked by finance. Investors want to see companies that stay and grow with you, a setup that does not drag on for months, and a clear owner who signs.
The numbers
HR tech grows two ways: more companies, and more employees inside each company. Investors look for both, plus a fast, reliable setup.
Customers, and the total employees on the platform. Per-employee pricing means revenue grows as customers hire.
On the slide: both lines by quarter, with average employees per customer.
Revenue from existing customers a year later, after hiring, new modules, downgrades and churn. In HR tech, hiring by customers adds expansion with no sales cost.
On the slide: for the last 12 months, with the split between seat growth and new modules.
Days from signed contract to the first live payroll, attendance or onboarding run. Slow setups delay revenue and lead to early churn.
On the slide: median and range, by company size.
Payroll and compliance errors, and support tickets per customer. HR software is trusted only as long as salaries are right.
On the slide: monthly, with support tickets per 100 employees.
The same fictional company. Customers kept hiring and added the attendance module, so revenue from the same companies rose 12% in a year.
Labour codes
India's four labour codes took effect on 21 November 2025, replacing 29 central labour laws. A new standard definition of wages now drives salary, provident fund, gratuity and bonus calculations; if excluded allowances exceed 50% of pay, part of them can be counted as wages. States still set minimum wages and many details[1].
For HR and payroll startups this is both a sales reason and a product burden. Investors will ask how quickly you updated calculations, how you track state-level changes, and how customers know they are compliant.
On your slide, show the rule changes you handled in the last year, how long each took to ship, and any compliance features customers pay for.
State rules under the codes are still being finalised. Confirm current requirements before you pitch.

Red flags
Investors give a deck a few minutes. DocSend found average review time fell to under three minutes in 2022[4]. These are the slides that use those minutes badly.
